Contagion to hit theaters September 9th 2011

Picture
Hitting theaters this September will be director Steven Soderbergh's "Contagion," a thriller about what would happen if the Bird Flu actually became the epidemic that many have feared. Much like Soderbergh's Oscar-winning film "Traffic," "Contagion" looks to be a gritty film designed to look and feel more like the real world than a typical Hollywood thriller. Though that will doubtless lose some of the audience, "Contagion" should be able to find adult audiences looking for a more cerebral film experience.

Two lovable West Virginian hillbillies, are headed to their "fixer-upper" vacation cabin to drink some beer, do some fishin', and have a good time. Dale (Tyler Labine) and Tucker (Alan Tudyk) are checking out their newly acquired "summer home" when they save the life of a gorgeous college student (Katrina Bowden) who's camping in the woods with some friends. When a series of misunderstandings leads to Dale and Tucker being labeled psycho killers by the vacationing students, the situation takes a sudden and ghastly turn for the worst.

So That's Why They Do It

So why do Zombies really eat brains?  Its a question that has perplexed every upright walking human at
one point or another.  I don't think our freaky,  flesh rotting counterparts are really consuming our gelatinous thought processors just because  they would like to fulfill their daily protein needs for the day.   Well in 1985 the movie Return of the Living Dead finally gives us an answer to satisfy every zombie loving fanatics curiosity.  At least now I can sleep at night... on second thought maybe not!

One Bad Grandma

I have seen weird things come and I have seen weird things go but in 2009 Legion raised the bar with this infamous scene.  The film stars Dennis Quaid, Paul Bettany, and Tyrese Gibson.  There is nothing more disturbing than a sweet old lady sitting down to eat a bloody raw  fly infested steak and morphing into a ceiling crawling, backhand slapping demon.

Time To Get Up

Ah, it was 1984 and A Nightmare on Elm Street was about to cause millions of teenagers to have a major case of insomnia.  I was one of those adolescent horror film addicts who swore Freddy Kruger was forever going to haunt my dreams.  Just the thought of those long razor blade fingers and Kruger's burnt, mangled up face sent my imagination into overtime . In this infamous clip a young Johnny Depp seems to have trouble getting out of bed once he falls asleep listening to some of his favorite tunes.

Battle: Los Angeles

2011's Battle: Los Angeles depicts a hostile alien invasion reigning down on planet Earth.  These extra-terrestrial intruders are here to colonize Earth and consume the water which their spacecraft needs in order to operate.  The special effects in this film are outstanding and you get a real deep sensation that if ever there was an invasion of this sort this is exactly what it would look like.  Director Jonathan Liebesman does excellent work in creating a realistic realm on such an improbable subject. This clip is one of the epic clips from the movie that will leave you with an eerie vibe.
